Cardoness Cattle Egret

I have several posts to catch up on from the Christmas & New Year period. First off, Scotland's 4th Cattle Egret at Cardoness, Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries & Galloway. Went down on the 1st when it rained all day and never really got light! Back on the 3rd with some beautiful early morning light and I managed some decent shots of this engaging little straggler. It became very trusting of me even though I was behind a fence and it approached with about five metres. It kept a safe distance from the Scottish Blackface sheep which often chased it or attempted a head butt! Prints are available to buy.

These photos are fantastic. The close-ups are amazing, but I also really like the last one, with the sheep looming dangerously in the background...
